2009, digital colour video with sound, 14min.,23sec
On a single day in a far away land, a man is selling orchids, another man is selling rings which saves one from all harms and a third man in another distant land faces his execution.
This film looks at the construction of mirco narratives that occur on the fringe of our attention economy. It is a local tale of orchid sellers who fail to sell much at the end of the day, in a busy market getting subsumed by Globalization.
The day is December 30th... the day Saddam Hussien was executed by hanging and we continuously hear the details of his execution on American and British radio channels.
The other audio layer is of a man from Bengal selling rings that provide solutions to all one’s problems.
